DigiRess funding program: Digital transformation for greater resource efficiency

At ENNEATECH, we are continuously working on improving our eco-balance and the quality of its recyclates. In addition to optimised material formulations and more efficient production processes, the following is becoming increasingly clear: Digitalisation opens up new potential for saving resources and reducing CO₂ emissions. With the support of public funding programme DigiRess (‘Digital applications to increase resource efficiency in circular production processes’), ENNEATECH is focussing on digital technologies to make processes more sustainable, transparent and efficient.

Digital solutions for resource-saving production

The core idea of the DigiRess project at Enneatech is the complete digital mapping of the production process. Using state-of-the-art technologies, inefficient sub-processes can be identified, analysed and optimised based on data.

In addition, an intelligent expert system was developed that automatically creates recipe specifications for recyclates, which enables more precise utilisation of raw materials, improves product quality and reduces material waste.

From vision to reality — core elements of the
DigiRess project

Starting in 2023, Enneatech successfully implemented three central digitalisation projects within one year. These projects make a significant contribution to resource efficiency:

1. RS-Connect: Transparency through digital real-time monitoring

  • A digital shift book that visualises the real-time operating status of the production.
  • Malfunctions and maintenance cases are recognised and documented immediately.
  • Faster response times for production management, less downtime, more efficiency.

2. PolyERP: Digitalization of merchandise management for sustainable production processes

  • Customised ERP system for recycling processes for the complete traceability of materials.
  • Recording of all process steps – from ordering and laboratory analysis to the final recipe.
  • Reduced material waste through optimised raw material management.

3. Smart Tool: Intelligent recipe database for optimised material composition

  • A recipe database with over 1,000 stored mixtures for plastic granulates and compounds.
  • Precise selection of raw materials without time-consuming test series.
  • Higher product quality and material efficiency through data-based decision-making.

All three systems are interlinked and ensure a seamless integration of production, quality and logistics processes.

Digitalization as the key to the future — our next steps

Through the targeted use of digital technologies, we have not only been able to further increase our resource efficiency, but also make our production processes more transparent and responsive. Employees benefit from optimised processes, improved error analysis and greater production reliability.

However, the digital transformation at Enneatech is far from complete: We are already planning the next innovation – a digital maintenance management that further minimise downtimes and increase system availability.

With the successful implementation of DigiRess, Enneatech is demonstrating how the combination of digital transformation and sustainable production can make a decisive contribution to conserving resources. Innovative technologies, data-based processes and intelligent systems make everyday production more efficient and environmentally friendly. The DigiRess funding programme, initiated by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), enables companies such as Enneatech to utilise the potential of digitalisation for a sustainable future.
