We all need to massively reduce our carbon footprint! If we don’t, it’s going to be costly – not only for future generations, but right now, when customers, investors or employees ask the unpleasant question about carbon footprint. Plastics are often at the centre of this debate. Using recycled materials is a sensible way to solve the problem. However, lower and fluctuating quality has often been a problem as well as uncertain availability.
Based on decades of experience, Enneatech has succeeded in offering an extremely impact-resistant, recycled filled PA6 and PA6.6 compound with the ENTRON eco product range – ENTRON eco compounds
With its own compounding range, the company can meet individual customer specifications on request. The compounds offer not only outstanding mechanical properties, but also a carbon footprint that is up to 90% lower. What makes them special is that the quality of the PCF/EPD-certified PA compounds has been proven to reach or even exceed that of new materials. Impact resistance exceeds 120 kJ/m2 and notched impact strength is greater than 15 kJ/m2 – without the use of foreign polymers. In order to achieve these excellent mechanical properties, the company has invested in a new hall, a new compounding plant and its own testing laboratory with an injection moulding machine for the test pieces.
In addition to the filled compounds, ENTRON eco is also available as granules. It is produced without foreign polymers and additives and is the basis of the filled compounds. Of course, the carbon footprint is always 90% lower than that of new materials.
The reason for the positive carbon footprint is ENTRON eco’s source materials: by-products of polyamides from the high-end textile industry are at the heart of the impact-resistant polyamides. The compounder produces a homogeneous source material from these. This is where ENNEATECH’s decades of know-how from the textile industry and experience of supplier-customer relationships is beneficial. Since the company is one of the pioneers in the market, it has a large supplier portfolio and can deliver reliably even in difficult market situations. By recycling high-quality textile waste, ENNEATECH produces polyamides with a traceable and documentable carbon footprint.
ENTRON eco compounds have a wide range of applications in injection moulding and extrusion – in the textile and furniture industry, automotive and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and construction. In addition to their mechanical strength, they have good sliding properties as well as high heat deflection and chemical resistance. The advantages of the new polyamide in the ENNEATECH range are clear – higher mechanical strengths allow thinner component wall thicknesses. This saves materials and thus further reduces the carbon footprint of the component produced.
