Involvement in the REGINEE Northwest+ network

Working together for greater energy efficiency and carbon reductions

Climate protection is an an integral part of our corporate culture. Energy saving and efficiency are inextricably linked to this- which is why we are involved in the Regional Energy Efficiency Network (REGINEE) Northwest+. The network is organised and moderated by the Federal Association of Energy Consumers (VEA).

Exchange and cooperation for a sustainable future

The REGINEE Nordwest+ network offers a platform for companies from different sectors to exchange ideas on solutions for improved energy efficiency and carbon reductions while learning from each other. Members of the network are predominantly small and medium-sized companies located in the north-west of Lower Saxony. Enneatech had already been part of REGINEE Nordwest, the predecessor network.

The networks set themselves ambitious goals: The total energy savings and CO2 reductions of all participating companies are recorded and documented. Together, the companies making up the predecessor network REGINEE Nordwest achieved a reduction in their energy consumption of around 4 million kilowatt hours, corresponding to a saving of around 2,000 tonnes of CO2.

Concrete progress through sustainable measures

In recent years, Enneatech has implemented numerous measures to reduce its carbon footprint and optimise energy consumption. One particularly effective step has been the switch to 100% green electricity,

which has significantly reduced carbon emissions. Another important optimisation step was the automation of the pelletising process. This resulted in fewer breaks and disruptions in production, which have a negative impact on the energy balance. We are currently working on the ongoing optimisation of our system control, bearing in mind that every fault avoided improves the energy efficiency of our production.

Energy efficiency and climate protection networks initiative

The Energy Efficiency Networks Initiative was launched in December 2014 as part of the National Action Plan on Energy Efficiency (NAPE). Since then, it has successfully helped companies of all sizes and from all sectors to exchange information in cross-sector and intra-sector networks, and to implement measures aimed at optimising energy efficiency. Since January 2021, the alliance has been continued by the federal government and industry as the Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks Initiative. It now has a new focus: in addition to the previous emphasis on the efficient use of energy in industry, trade, commerce and the skilled trades, the content spectrum of the networks has been expanded to include climate protection, energy transition and sustainability.

The aim of the new term is to establish 300 to 350 new networks by the end of 2025. In this way, nine to eleven terawatt hours of final energy or five to six million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions will be saved. The network initiative is thus making an important contribution to achieving Germany’s climate and energy policy goals.
