The Grinch
That shaggy green and grumpy Grinch
He’s really in a dreadful clinch
He hates the sparkle of good cheer
And Christmas spirit every year.
He’s hatched a plan, a naughty scheme
To ruin people’s Christmas dream.
For Christmas this year, it is bound to be grand
Far prettier than ever across all Deutschland.
The houses and streets, all sparkling with lights,
To warm all our hearts on the cold winter’s nights.
The shops will be glist’ning with glitter and bows
And gifts will help us forget all our woes.
But Grinch – he just grumbles and feels very sad.
Because he thinks Christmas is terribly bad.
‘So how can I spoil all this holiday fun?
I’ll nick all their presents; yes, every last one!’
In his best Santa costume, he goes house-to-house
Stealing presents and decor – as quiet as a mouse.
The Grinch, ‘Yes,’ he chuckles with glee to himself.
As he sweeps all their presents just right off the shelf.
But the Grinch, he just blatantly laughs in his gut,
As he swipes all the tinsel and every last nut!
On Christmas Day morning, the people awake
and find all their gifts gone – for heaven’s sake!
But Christmas, it’s more than just commerce and decor
It’s a warm celebration, perhaps even yet more:
A time for the family, for friendship and grace.
A season for love in a warm, shared embrace.
They gather together and sing in one voice
The best Christmas carols and songs to rejoice.
And somehow these carols creep into the heart
of the Grinch, and dissolve every cold frozen part.
He soon feels the warmth and the cheer, and the joy
And so he returns all the gifts down to every last toy.
He says he is sorry, and Cindy Lou beams,
She invites him to share in their Christmas Day dreams.
So, here’s my last message, without more ado:
Merry Christmas and may all your wishes come true!
