An employee portrait of our logistician Adam Constantine
Adam Constantine’s professional career to date has often required a balancing act between languages and cultures. He has worked in various countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Canada, Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Looking back, he says that although it was always interesting to get involved with the different ways of working and living, it was sometimes exhausting to be confronted with new ways of thinking and behaving. The move from Wales to Germany was therefore comparatively easy for him. With a wink, he says: “I quickly got used to the fact that the East Frisians drink their black tea with Kluntje and cream and that going for a walk doesn’t mean running to the nearest pub. I appreciate the advantages of both countries and try to combine the best of both worlds.” His day starts with a highlight on the way to work. He says: “As I drive to Enneatech, the East Frisian landscape passes me by. It shows a different side depending on the season: be it with trees with their golden yellow leaves, lush green and colorful flower meadows, or sometimes grey and cold and wet — but still idyllic. As I cycle along the canal, I pass a windmill and wide fields. The Fehn region around Großefehn is unique and the view never ceases to amaze me. When the daffodils bloom along the canal in spring, I almost feel at home, because the daffodil is the Welsh national flower!” He is therefore delighted to have been part of the Enneatech team since February 2021 and greatly appreciates the many benefits of the company.
Working at ENNEATECH
At the beginning of his career at Enneatech, he worked in production. However, his experience and interests enabled him to move to the logistics department within a short space of time. Part of his job is to use all available sources to find suppliers and raw materials that meet the company’s strict specifications.
According to his own statements, he initially thought he was quite environmentally conscious. Through his work in the recycling company, however, he has learned a lot and realized how far-reaching sustainable management is and how many areas it plays a role in.
His work requires patience, understanding and excellent communication skills. Although the team is always keen to ensure processes run as smoothly as possible, unforeseen events can occur that impact on operations. In these cases, it is important to react with understanding while communicating with the parties involved. In this way, problems can often be solved quickly and effectively.
The mystery of the German language
In addition to the complex German bureaucracy, the language is a challenge for him. Grammar in particular sometimes gives him a headache. He says, for example, that it is much easier in English with the definite article “the”. This remains unchanged, regardless of how it appears in the sentence. In German, on the other hand, “die” can become “der”, “den” and “das” as well as “dem”. This is difficult to understand and makes no sense to him. Nevertheless, he stays on the ball. He attends evening school two evenings a week to make further progress. What motivates him in particular are his colleagues and superiors, who support him in all areas. This is invaluable to him.
And his colleagues have greatly improved their English skills in the meantime 😉
Great team spirit
The cooperation between the different departments is excellent and the work culture is great. Enneatech is always coming up with new ideas to promote team spirit. A new kitchen was recently installed, which has brought everyone closer together. Some have discovered their talent and passion for cooking and baking. Now they often stand together at the stove and sizzle up tasty dishes.
However, Adam doesn’t just spend his free time in the kitchen. As a passionate football fan, he accompanies his two youngest children to the games, but also eagerly awaits every match of his favorite club Wrexham.
